Metrocenter Mall (Jackson, Mississippi)

Metrocenter Mall is a regional shopping mall in southwest Jackson, Mississippi, USA. The largest shopping mall in Mississippi, it is composed of 1,250,000 square feet of retail space on two levels. Despite this mall opening with four anchors; Burlington Coat Factory remains. After years of delay, City of Jackson, Mississippi recently startd moving seven administrative offices into the former Belk. Metrocenter Mall has the first of two Burlington Coat Factory locations in the state.

WAPT

WAPT is the ABC-affiliated television station for Central Mississippi that is licensed to Jackson. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 21 from a transmitter at its studios on Leggett Drive in unincorporated Hinds County. Owned by Hearst Television, the station can also be found on Comcast channel 4 and Cable ONE channel 12. There is a high definition feed provided on Comcast digital channel 431 and Cable ONE digital channel 455.

WXMS-LP

WXMS-LP (channel 27) is a television station in Jackson, Mississippi affiliated with Me-TV. The station began broadcasting in December 1999 as an affiliate of both the WB and UPN networks. The WB was WXMS's primary affiliation while UPN was its secondary affiliation. On October 7, 2001, WXMS became a primary UPN affiliate after ceding its WB affiliation to sister station WDBD, which had defected from the Fox network.

Almost 900 children from southern Jackson attend Wingfield High School in grades 9-12, as well as over 70 administration and staff. The principal of Wingfield High School is Ms. Nadine Gilbert. Mississippi River Basin Model

The Mississippi River Basin Model Waterways Experiment Station, located near Clinton, Mississippi, was a large-scale hyrdaulic model of the entire Mississippi River basin, covering an area of 200 acres. Now derelict, the model was built from 1943 to 1966 and in operation from 1949 until 1973. By comparison, the better known San Francisco Bay Model covers 1.5 acres and the Chesapeake Bay Model covers 8 acres.
