Ecorse, Michigan
Ecorse is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan, named for the Ecorse River. The population was 9,512 at the 2010 census.
River Rouge, Michigan
River Rouge is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan and an industrial Downriver suburb of Detroit. The population was 7,903 at the 2010 census. It is named after the River Rouge (or Rouge River from the French "Rouge" meaning red), which flows along the city's northern border and into the Detroit River. The city includes the heavily industrialized Zug Island at the mouth of the River Rouge.
Fighting Island
Fighting Island is a 1,500-acre island in the Detroit River— the largest Canadian island in the river. It is part of the town of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, opposite Wyandotte, Michigan and downriver from Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario. Originally populated by Natives, it was settled by the French during the 18th century, and has had numerous owners since then. Murno Gladst named it Fighting Island in the late 18th century, because he used it to attack passing British ships.

Grassy Island
Grassy Island is a small, uninhabited 72-acre (29 ha) American island in the Detroit River. It is located just north of Grosse Ile and west of Fighting Island, about 600 feet (183 m) west of the Canada–United States border. The island is part of the city of Wyandotte, in Wayne County. The island is part of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. Grassy Island should not be confused with Grass Island, which is an island of Ontario on the exact opposite side of the Detroit River.
Hector J. Robinson Observatory
The Hector J. Robinson Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Lincoln Park, Michigan. It houses a 14-inch Celestron SCT. It went back into operation in September 2009. First light ceremonies happened in early September.
Council Point Park
Council Point Park is a park in Lincoln Park, Michigan. The park is 27 acres, and boarders the cities of Wyandotte and Ecorse. The point itself is formed by the northern and southern branches of the Ecorse Creek, right before the creek reaches the Detroit River. The land for the park was purchased in the late 1980s. The parks dimensions were courtesy of Wade Trim and Associates.
Port of Detroit
The Port of Detroit is located along the west side of the Detroit River, and is the largest seaport in the state of Michigan. The port is overseen by the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, a five-member board of directors appointed by the State of Michigan, Wayne County, and the City of Detroit. The authority coordinates river commerce on the waters and shoreline of Wayne County. The port consists of multiple marine terminals handling general, liquid, and bulk cargo as well as passengers.
