Eastern Michigan University
Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is a comprehensive, co-educational public university located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ypsilanti is 35 miles west of Detroit and eight miles (13 km) east of Ann Arbor. The university was founded in 1849 as Michigan State Normal School. Today, the university is governed by an eight-member Board of Regents, who are appointed by the Governor of Michigan for eight-year terms.
Rynearson Stadium
Rynearson Stadium is a stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. It held its first game on September 27, 1969, when EMU upset the University of Akron, 10-3. Currently, the stadium has seating for 30,200 people.
WEMU
WEMU (89.1) is the public broadcasting service of Eastern Michigan University. A National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate whose primary market is Washtenaw County (Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti) and the surrounding area, WEMU carries the standard NPR news magazines All Things Considered and Morning Edition. In addition to other NPR and Public Radio International (PRI) information and cultural programming, WEMU has a primary music format of jazz and blues with specialty programs in Latin and roots music.
Convocation Center (Eastern Michigan University)
The Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center is a multi-purpose arena, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The facility is owned by Eastern Michigan University. The event has hosted concerts, graduation ceremonies and athletic events. The facility was built in 1997.
Ypsilanti High School
Ypsilanti High School is a public school located in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and is the second such building to operate under the name. The current facility, built in 1973, was remodeled between 1998 and 1999, as part of a district-wide remodeling effort funded by a bond measure. Ypsilanti High School (or 'Ypsi High,' as many people refer to it), is a comprehensive high school serving 9–12th grades.
Bowen Field House
Bowen Field House is a 5,400 seat multi-purpose arena in Ypsilanti, Michigan on the Eastern Michigan University campus. It opened in 1955 and was home to the Eastern Michigan Eagles men's and women's basketball teams until the Convocation Center opened in 1997. It currently serves as the home of Eastern Michigan Eagles track and field, Eastern Michigan Eagles wrestling, and Eastern Michigan Eagles gymnastics.
WSDS
WSDS is a radio station in Superior Charter Township, Michigan, that broadcasts at 1480 kHz. Known as "La Explosiva," WSDS carries an all-Spanish schedule featuring contemporary music from a wide variety of genres, most notably Regional Mexican but also including romantica, Spanish rock, salsa, Hurban, and reggaeton.
Oestrike Stadium
Oestrike Stadium is a stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan at Eastern Michigan University. It is primarily used for baseball, and served as the home field of the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti Frontier League baseball team in 2009. In addition, it hosts the Eastern Michigan University Eagles baseball team. It is named after Ron Oestrike, a former baseball coach at EMU.
