Algonac, Michigan
Algonac is a city in St. Clair County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,110 at the 2010 census. Algonac is located at the southern end of the St. Clair River, just before it splits into a large delta region known as the St. Clair Flats. The St. Clair River drains Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair and is part of the Great Lakes Waterway. At the center of Algonac is Algonac City Park, a park which contains a half-mile long boardwalk along the St. Clair River.
Harsens Island
Harsens Island is a wet marshy location at the mouth of the St. Clair River in the U.S. state of Michigan. Politically, the island is in Clay Township of St. Clair County.
Port Lambton, Ontario
Port Lambton is a village situated on the St. Clair River, in southwestern Ontario, Canada within the municipality of St. Clair Township. According to the latest census, 1084 people live within this Lambton County, Ontario community. In its early days, the village developed out of local transport and agricultural trade via rail and ship and evolved mainly into a summer resort community, serving seasonal residences and summer cottagers through much of its history.
Walpole–Algonac Ferry
The Walpole-Algonac Ferry serves the city of Algonac, Michigan, and the First Nation reserve of Walpole Island, and (indirectly), Wallaceburg, Ontario, via Highway 40 and Lambton County Road 32. This ferry shares the same dock as the Russell Island Ferry to Russell Island (Michigan), but the latter ferry does not serve Walpole Island. The Walpole-Algonac Ferry Line has been in operation for over 100 years. Operating out of Walpole Island (Ontario, Canada) the ferry crosses the St.
Russell Island (Michigan)
Russell Island is a small private island in the St. Clair River in the U.S. state of Michigan between Algonac and Walpole Island, Ontario, Canada. It is immediately upriver from Sand Island which is itself immediately upriver from Harsens Island; it includes two smaller islands, Anderson Island on the northwest, and "The Gold Coast" on the southwest. The island, which is accessible only via passenger ferry or by private watercraft, contains about 150 cottages.
Tashmoo Park
Tashmoo Park was an amusement park in Algonac, Michigan. Opened in 1897, it closed in 1951. Most of it was later demolished, though the dance pavilion remains today, used by a marina to store recreational boats over the winter. The park was located on Harsens Island in the St. Clair Flats at the northern end of Lake St. Clair. The St Clair Flats is the largest freshwater river delta in the world.
Sans Souci, Michigan
Sans Souci (also Harsens Island) is an unincorporated community in Clay Township of St. Clair County in the U.S. state of Michigan at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:42|34|45|N|82|33|51|W|type:city | |name= }} on the eastern shore of Harsens Island. The name is French (sans souci) and can be literally translated to "carefree", "without worries" or "without concerns".
