Lansing Community College
Lansing Community College is a two-year public college founded in 1957. The school's founder, Phillip Gannon, served as president for many years. The college's main campus is located on an urban, 42-acre (170,000 m²) site in downtown Lansing, Michigan spanning seven city blocks approximately two blocks from the state capital. A West Campus opened in 2004 in Delta Township, southwest of Lansing, and there is also an East Campus located in the Eyde Plaza in East Lansing.

WLNZ
WLNZ is a non-commercial FM radio station located in Lansing, Michigan. The station, which broadcasts on 89.7 FM, is owned by Lansing Community College. The station began broadcasting in 1994 with 100 watts. Power was increased to the present 420 watts in 2001. WLNZ began broadcasting in HD in 2006. Programming originally consisted mainly of jazz and blues music, but has recently changed to an Adult Alternative format known as Horizons.

The Grand Tower is an office building located at 235 South Grand Avenue, next to the Grand River, on the southeast side of downtown Lansing, Michigan. With 16 floors, it is the second tallest building in Lansing, after the Boji Tower. Since its opening in 1991, the Grand Tower has been primarily used for State of Michigan government.

Kerns Hotel fire
Kerns Hotel was a 162-room hotel located in the 100 block of N. Grand Ave. in Lansing, Michigan, built in 1909 by William G. Kerns. The hotel cost $50,000 to build and was the first hotel in the state of Michigan that had running ice water. On December 11, 1934, a fire broke out in the Kerns Hotel, killing 32 people and injuring 44 people, including 14 firemen. The hotel was made of wood and fire spread rapidly, trapping many people inside of their rooms.
