Houghton, Michigan
Houghton is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and largest city in the Copper Country on the Keweenaw Peninsula. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 7,708. It is the county seat of Houghton County. It has been listed as one of the "100 Best Small Towns in America. " Houghton is sometimes confused with, or thought to be close to, Houghton Lake; the latter is actually located in the state's Lower Peninsula.

Hancock is a city in Houghton County and is located on Copper Island which is part of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The population was 4,634 at the 2010 census.
Portage Township, Houghton County, Michigan
Portage Township is a charter township of Houghton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 3,156. The city of Houghton is adjacent to the north side of the township. Portage Lake is the eastern boundary in the north and the township extends well south of Houghton to the Baraga County line.

Dee Stadium
Dee Stadium, also called The Dee, is an ice hockey arena in Houghton, Michigan, that replaces, and is located on the same site as, the Amphidrome. It is regarded as the birthplace of professional hockey, and is the seventh oldest indoor ice rink in the world.

Houghton High School is a high school located in Houghton, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. It shares the same building as Houghton Middle School. 2012 enrollment was 407 students in Grades 9 through 12, with a 17/1 student to teacher ratio. In 2002, it was the 12th best public high school in the state of Michigan. As of 2010-2011, it was ranked 4th best in Michigan.
WGLI
WGLI (98.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a rock music format. Licensed to Hancock, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 2003. The station is owned and operated by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of the Lake Superior Bands of Chippewa Indians, based at the L'Anse Indian Reservation. Primarily serving the reservation and Keweenaw Peninsula at 100,000 watts, WGLI's signal can also be picked up across Lake Superior in Cook County, Minnesota and Thunder Bay, Ontario.

WKMJ-FM (93.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a hot adult contemporary format, licensed to Hancock, Michigan. The station was known as "Z93" WZRK with a CHR format throughout the 1980s, and has programmed a variety of formats since, including oldies and contemporary Christian music. Mix 93 airs Dial Global Hot AC format with a local morning drive show during the day on weekdays.

Quincy Smelter
The Quincy Smelter is the only remaining copper smelter in the Lake Superior region. It is located north of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in Ripley, Michigan. It was operated by the Quincy Mine until 1972 and processed ore from 13 local mines. There is currently controversy over what should be done with the land which is currently owned by Franklin Township. The EPA and National Park Service want to turn the site into a historical self-tour or fishing and picnicking area.
Scott Hotel
The Scott Hotel is a former hotel located at 101 East Quincy Street in Hancock, Michigan, originally known as the Hotel Scott. As of 2009, it is also known as the Scott Building. The five-story building is in the Renaissance Revival style, constructed of tan brick and trimmed with Lake Superior Sandstone. The building was listed as a Michigan State Historic Site on January 17, 1986.
Kerredge Theatre
The Kerredge Theatre was a theatre located in the 1st block of East Quincy Street in Hancock, Michigan, next to the Scott Hotel. It was built by William and Ray Kerredge and completed by Fall 1902. The theatre hosted many vaudeville groups and could accommodate 1250 patrons. The theatre was fronted by a circular balcony. The Kerredge Theatre was built in response to the construction two years earlier of The Calumet Theatre in Calumet, Michigan.
