Mount Wachusett
Mount Wachusett is located in the towns of Princeton and Westminster in Worcester County, Massachusetts. It is the highest point in Massachusetts east of the Connecticut River. The mountain is named after a Native American term meaning "near the mountain" or "mountain place". The mountain is a popular hiking and skiing destination. An automobile road, open spring to fall, ascends the summit.
High Ledges Wildlife Sanctuary
The High Ledges is a wildlife sanctuary located in Shelburne, Massachusetts. The 587-acre property, located on the northern portion of Massaemett Mountain, is owned by Massachusetts Audubon Society. One of the main highlights of the sanctuary is vista known as High Ledge. The cliff overlooks Shelburne Falls and areas to the west, including Mount Greylock.
