Salem, Massachusetts
Salem is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, in the United States. The population was 41,340 at the 2010 census. Salem and Lawrence were the county seats of Essex County prior to the abolishment of county government in 1999.
Pickering House (Salem, Massachusetts)
The Pickering House (circa 1651) is a First Period Colonial house located on Broad Street, Salem in the McIntire District. The house was owned and occupied by ten successive generations of the Pickering family including Colonel Timothy Pickering. This house is believed to be the oldest house in the United States continuously occupied by one family (until 1998 when a reputable North Shore family took up residence).
Crowninshield-Bentley House
The Crowninshield-Bentley House (circa 1727-1730) is a Colonial house in the Georgian style, located at 126 Essex Street, Salem, Massachusetts in the Essex Institute Historic District. It is now owned by the Peabody Essex Museum and open for public tours from June to October. The house was originally built for sea captain John Crowninshield at a site on 106 Essex Street.
John Tucker Daland House
The John Tucker Daland House (1851–1852) is an imposing, Italianate house designed by architect Gridley James Fox Bryant. It is located at 132 Essex Street, Salem, Massachusetts, United States in the Essex Institute Historic District and now owned by the Peabody Essex Museum as home for the Essex Institute. It is open to the public six days a week. The three-story brick house was originally built for John Tucker Daland, a prosperous merchant.
Quaker Meeting House (Peabody Essex Museum)
Currently a part of the Peabody Essex Museum, the first Quaker Meeting House (Federal Garden area) in Salem, Massachusetts was built around 1688. The current building, erected in 1865 to resemble a Post-Medieval or First Period structure, is a reconstruction of the Quaker Meeting House and may contain some of the original timber framing. It is most interesting today as a very early example of an architectural re-creation.
Andrew–Safford House
Owned by the Peabody Essex Museum, the Andrew–Safford House (13 Washington Square). Built in 1819 and was designed in the Federal style by an unknown architect for a wealthy Russian fur merchant. It is reputed to have been the most costly house erected in New England at the time. The massive vertical façade and the four large columns rising from the ground to the third story on the south side make this one of the most impressive houses in Salem.
The Witch House
The Witch House (also called the Jonathan Corwin House), was the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin and is the only structure still standing in Salem, Massachusetts with direct ties to the Salem witch trials of 1692. The house was bought by Judge Corwin in 1675, when he was 24 years old, and he lived there for more than forty years. Corwin is buried in the nearby Broad Street Cemetery. The house remained in the Corwin family until the mid-19th century.
Salem (MBTA station)
Salem is a passenger rail station on MBTA Commuter Rail's Newburyport/Rockport Line located at 252 Bridge Street near the intersection of Massachusetts Route 107 and Route 114 in Salem, Massachusetts. Salem station consists of one platform which serves a single track. A staircase provides access to the platform from Route 107. Immediately south of Salem, the train tracks enter the Salem Tunnel, which carries trains underneath Washington Street in Salem.
Yin Yu Tang House
Yin Yu Tang House is a late 18th century Chinese house from Anhui province that had been removed from its original village and re-erected in Salem, Massachusetts. The Yin Yu Tang (Hall of Plentiful Shelter) was built in the late eighteenth century for a Chinese merchant who commissioned the construction of a house in the province of his birth, Anhui, China.

The Salem Athenaeum, founded in 1810, is one of the oldest private library organizations in the United States. The Athenaeum is located at 337 Essex Street in Salem, Massachusetts in the Chestnut Street District.
Harmony Grove Cemetery
Harmony Grove Cemetery is a cemetery in Salem, Massachusetts. It was established in 1840 and is located at 30 Grove Street. The cemetery includes the Gothic revival Blake Memorial Chapel of 1905.
Phillips Library (Salem, Massachusetts)
The Phillips Library of the Peabody Essex Museum is a rare books and special collections library located Plummer Hall in the Essex Institute Historic District of Salem, Massachusetts. It "is made up of the collections of the former Peabody Museum of Salem and Essex Institute, which merged in 1992. ... Both had libraries named for members of the Phillips family. " The Phillips Library reading room is located in Plummer Hall on Essex Street, with offices in the connected John Tucker Daland House.
