Jones Point
Jones Point is a geographic point on the Potomac River which is part of the city of Alexandria, Virginia, United States. The Jones Point lighthouse and a small park are located at the point, which is immediately north of the confluence of Hunting Creek and the Potomac River. The 1791-1792 survey of the boundaries of the District of Columbia began at a spot that was then at the tip of a cape at the Point.

Oxon Creek
Oxon Creek is a cove on the Potomac River which straddles the border between Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland just north of Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) at Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The tributary stream is Oxon Run. Oxon Creek is 1.5 miles in length and empties into the Potomac at Goose Island (a sand bar often under water) across from the city of Alexandria, Virginia. To the north is the Blue Plains waste water treatment facility and to the south the Oxon Cove Park.
Fort Foote
Fort Foote was an American Civil War-era wood and earthwork fort that composed a portion of the wartime defenses of Washington, D.C. , by helping defend the Potomac River approach to the city. It operated from 1863 to 1878, when the post was abandoned, and was used only briefly during the First and Second World Wars. Today, the fort is operated as Fort Foote Park, which is maintained by the U.S. National Park Service as part of the National Capital Parks-East system.
USS Princeton Disaster of 1844
The USS Princeton Disaster of 1844 occurred on February 28 aboard the newly built USS Princeton when one of the ship's long guns, the "Peacemaker", then the world's longest naval gun, exploded during a display of the ship. Among the dead were Secretary of State Abel Upshur, Secretary of the Navy Thomas Gilmer and seven other people including David Gardiner, father of Julia Gardiner, the fiancée of President John Tyler. Twenty people were injured as well.

The Aloft Washington National Harbor is a hotel located on National Harbor near Oxon Hill, Maryland. It lies at the intersection of Waterfront Street and American Way on the Potomac River across from Alexandria, Virginia and outside of Washington, D.C.. The 8-floor, 190-guest room property was built in March 2009, and opened its doors as an operating hotel in April 2009.
