Cabin John is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The placename is a corruption of its original name of "Captain John's Mills."
Congressional Country Club
The Congressional Country Club is a country club and golf course in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Congressional opened in 1924 and has hosted three U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship. Founding life members include William H. Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. It is currently an annual stop on the PGA Tour, with the AT&T National hosted by Tiger Woods. The tournament was first played in 2007, and is held in early July.
Cabin John Creek
Cabin John Creek is a tributary stream of the Potomac River in Montgomery County, Maryland. The watershed covers an area of 26 square miles . The headwaters of the creek originate in the city of Rockville, and the creek flows southward for 10.9 miles to the Potomac River. The Cabin John Stream Valley Trail follows the course of the creek for 8.8 miles, passing through Cabin John Regional Park and Cabin John Local Park.

The 1997 United States Open Championship was the 97th U.S. Open. The event was held from June 12–15 at the Congressional Country Club Blue Course in Bethesda, Maryland. Ernie Els won his second U.S. Open and major championship, one stroke ahead of runner-up Colin Montgomerie.
1964 U.S. Open (golf)
The 1964 U.S. Open was the 64th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 18–20, 1964, at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Ken Venturi won his only major title with a four-stroke victory over runner-up Tommy Jacobs. Jacobs held the 36-hole lead after shooting a U.S. Open record-tying 64 in the second round. In the third round on Saturday morning, he carded a 70 and retained a 2-stroke lead over Venturi, who shot a 66, after 54 holes.
1976 PGA Championship
The 1976 PGA Championship was the 58th PGA Championship, played August 12–16 at Congressional Country Club (Blue Course) in Bethesda, Maryland. Dave Stockton sank a 15-foot foot putt to save par on the 72nd hole to win his second PGA Championship, one stroke ahead of runners-up Raymond Floyd and Don January. The final round was delayed to Monday for the first time, due to weather.
2011 U.S. Open (golf)
The 2011 United States Open Championship, the 111th U.S. Open, was played June 16–19 at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. It was won by Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, who set 11 U.S. Open records on the weekend, including the lowest total 72-hole score (268) and the lowest total under par (−16). McIlroy and Robert Garrigus became the fifth and sixth golfers in U.S. Open history to score under par in all four rounds.
