Howard County, Maryland
Howard County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Maryland, between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. It is considered part of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. In 2010, its population was 287,085. Its county seat is Ellicott City. The center of population of Maryland is located on the county line between Howard County and Anne Arundel County, in the unincorporated town of Jessup.
River Hill, Columbia, Maryland
River Hill is the last and westernmost village to be developed in the town of Columbia, Maryland, though numerous residents have addresses in Clarksville. Construction started in 1990. It is bounded by Maryland Route 108 and Maryland Route 32, and is centered on Trotter Road. The village is divided into two neighborhoods: Pheasant Ridge and Pointers Run, with about 6,500 residents.

United Airlines Flight 297, a Vickers Viscount 745D, was a scheduled flight from Newark International Airport (EWR/KEWR) in Newark, New Jersey to Washington, D.C. with 17 people on board. On November 23, 1962 at approximately 12:24 P.M. EDT, it crashed just northwest of what is now Columbia, Maryland after striking a flock of whistling swans while cruising at 6,000 feet (1,800 m).
Harper's Choice, Columbia, Maryland
Harper's Choice is one of the ten villages that comprise Columbia, Maryland. It lies in the northwest part of Columbia and consists of the neighborhoods of Longfellow, Swansfield, and Hobbit's Glen and had a December 1998 population of 8,695. The shrine is a ministry of the Conventual Franciscan Friars, St. Anthony of Padua Province. The friary covers 20,194 sq ft on 320 acres of hills and woodland. The chapel which houses the relic of St. Anthony is open to the public during published visiting hours. Mass is offered daily throughout the year.

The MPEA was created in 1996 for educational, research, and recreational purposes. It is home to over 40 species of mammals, and numerous amphibians, reptiles, fishes, butterflies, plants and other wildlife.
