Naval Air Station Brunswick
Naval Air Station Brunswick, also known as NAS Brunswick, was a military airport located 2 miles northeast of Brunswick, Maine. The base was home to a number of Navy-operated Maritime patrol aircraft. Before closing, the base continued to operate as part of its closing procedures while the airport was operating publicly under the name Brunswick Executive Airport. The base closed on May 31, 2011, as per the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure committee decision.

Maine State Music Theatre
The Maine State Music Theatre is a performing arts organization based in Brunswick, Maine, United States. Founded in 1959 as the Brunswick Summer Playhouse, it became a non-profit in 1970. In 1988 it changed to the current name to reflect its growing area of patronage. Governor John R. McKernan recognized the organization that year for its longevity, as the number of Equity theatres in the state had dropped by half, and few theatres nationwide remained exclusively musical-based.

On December 2, 1948, the Air Force directed the Army Corps of Engineers to proceed with construction of this and the other twenty-three sites.
