Loring Air Force Base
Loring Air Force Base (AFB) was a United States Air Force base in the town of Limestone, Aroostook County, in the state of Maine. Loring AFB was the largest base of the United States Air Force's Strategic Air Command during its existence, until it was transferred to the newly created Air Combat Command in 1992. It was named for Major Charles J. Loring, Jr. , USAF, a Medal of Honor recipient during the Korean War. From 1951 to 1962, it was co-located next to Caribou Air Force Station.
Caribou Air Force Station
Caribou Air Force Station, also known as North River Depot and East Loring, is a defunct Air Force Station that operated from 1951 until some time when it was absorbed into Loring Air Force Base in 1962. It was located in Limestone, Maine, adjacent to Loring. Between 1951 and 1962 Caribou was an Operational Storage Site for Air Materiel Command (AMC-OSS), one of five in the United States, and the nuclear weapons storage and maintenance facility for Loring alert aircraft.
Loring Military Heritage Center
The Loring Military Heritage Center, near Limestone, Maine and named for pilot Charles J. Loring, Jr. , was founded in 2005 by prior service military personnel who lived in the area. The museum was founded to preserve the history of the base, and the memories of the people who served there. The museum recently completed an addition in 2011.
Loring Air Force Base Double Cantilever Hangar
The Loring Air Force Base Double Cantilever hangar (officially known as Building 8280) is the largest structure at the former Loring Air Force Base, now the Loring Commerce Centre. The hangar measures approximately 250 feet by 600 feet and appurtenances cover 3.925 acres . It was built with the capability of holding five B-36 Peacemaker, or six B-52 Stratofortress aircraft. The main hangar building was built in 1954 at a cost of $4.6 million.
Loring Air Force Base Alert Area
The Loring Air Force Base Alert Area is a former alert area for B-52 Stratofortress aircraft of the 42d Bombardment Wing situated at the former Loring Air Force Base at Limestone, Maine. It was constructed in 1960 due to a demand by the Strategic Air Command that its bomber bases have a staging area to launch alerts from.

Loring International Airport is the operational name of the airfield at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. It is currently operated by the Loring Commerce Centre. The airfield itself sits on 1,600 acres of land, and is kept in good condition.

The Loring Air Force Base Arch Hangar is an arch hangar located at Loring International Airport in Limestone, Maine. It was constructed by the United States Air Force as part of Loring Air Force Base. It was constructed at the same time as the base's double cantilever hangar, and was one of the largest monolithic arch structures in the world at the time of its completion.
