Jean Galatoire, an immigrant from a small village near Pau, France, in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, established a "saloon on Canal Street" in 1896. In 1905, Galatoire purchased Victor’s Restaurant, in business at the location since 1830. Galatoire renamed the restaurant and began cooking the dishes from his homeland.

The building has lesser-known 25th and 26th floors that are accessible only from the 24th floor and are much smaller in area than the other floors.

Arnaud's
Arnaud's is a well known restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Along with Galatoire's, Antoine's, and Broussard's, Arnaud's is one of the classic Creole New Orleans restaurants. A unique aspect of Arnaud's is that it contains a small museum of Mardi Gras artifacts accumulated by Germaine Wells, the daughter of 'Count' Arnaud. Located on Bienville Street in the French Quarter, it was founded by Arnaud Cazenave in 1918. Arnaud's was operated by the Late Archie Casbarian, from 1978 to 2009.
Broussard's
Broussard's, along with Galatoire's, Antoine's, and Arnaud's, is one of the four classic Creole New Orleans restaurants known as the Grand Dames. Broussard's first opened its doors in 1920, when an eminent local chef, Joseph Broussard, married Rosalie Borrello, and the couple moved into the Borrello family mansion (built in 1834) at 819 Conti Street in the French Quarter, where the restaurant now sits.
Krauss Building
The Krauss Building is a landmark building in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the downtown lake corner of Canal Street and Basin Street. It housed one of the city's leading department stores for over 90 years. In 2009 it was redeveloped into condominiums by Elie Khoury. In 1903, Krauss Department Store was opened at 1201 Canal Street, New Orleans by Leon Fellman and his nephews, the Krauss brothers—Max, Alfred, Leopold, and Fritz. The building cost $25,000.

The Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is part of Tulane University of Louisiana. It is the oldest school of public health in the United States and the only American school of Tropical Medicine.
Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge
The Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge is the only revolving bar in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bar is inside the Hotel Monteleone and overlooks Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Installed in 1949, the 25-seat circular bar turns on 2,000 large steel rollers, powered by a 1/4-horsepower motor. The bar rotates at a rate of one revolution every 15 minutes. In addition to the rotating bar, an adjoining room includes booths and tables with live entertainment offered nightly.
Joy Theater
The Joy Theater is a theater and historic landmark built in 1947 on Canal Street in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. Renovations in 2011 transformed the former movie palace into a multipurpose theater for live music, stand-up comedy, private functions, and corporate events. The theater’s iconic marquee sign was restored, as was the building’s original art deco architecture.
