Baker is a city in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States, and a part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 13,895 at the 2010 census, an increase of 102 persons from the 2000 tabulation of 13,793. Baker is 77 percent African American.

The Southern University System is a system of universities in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Its headquarters are at the Joseph Samuel Clark Administration Building on the property of the Southern University campus in Baton Rouge. The Southern University System is the only historically black college system in the United States.
Ace W. Mumford Stadium
Ace W. Mumford Stadium is a 29,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It opened in 1928, and is home to the Southern University Jaguars and Southern Laboratory High School Kittens football teams, as well as the Southern University women's soccer team. It is named after coach A.W. "Ace" Mumford, the most successful coach in Southern University football history, who coached from 1937 until 1961. Since 1928, the Jaguars have won 246 games, lost 97, and tied 12 times.
F. G. Clark Center
F.G. Clark Activity Center is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is home to the Southern University Jaguars basketball team. The arena opened in 1975 and it is named for Dr. Felton Grandison Clark, who was the second president of Southern University from 1938 to 1969.

All magnet and engineering honors students are housed in a different building from the community and Center of Excellence students. Its rival school is Mckinley High School.
Baton Rouge Zoo
The Baton Rouge Zoo is located 15 minutes North of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Zoo is owned and operated by the Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana (BREC), and is home to over 1,800 animals from around the world. The Baton Rouge Zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1977—the first zoo in Louisiana to be accredited. The zoo is open daily except on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Lee–Hines Field is a baseball stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is the home field of the Southern University Jaguars baseball team. The stadium served as host of the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament from May 13 through 17. From May 16–20, 2012, it hosted the 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament, won by Prairie View A&M.
