Middlesboro, also spelled Middlesborough, is a city in Bell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 10,334 at the 2010 census. The entire micropolitan area has a population of 69,060 (as of 2010) which includes all of Bell County. It is the principal city of the Middlesborough, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. Middlesboro is the largest city in Southeast Kentucky. The city was incorporated in 1890 as "Middlesborough", named after the town of Middlesbrough, England. The U.S.

The Middlesboro crater is a meteorite crater in Kentucky, United States. It is named after the city of Middlesborough (both spellings are used), which today occupies much of the crater. The crater is approximately 3 miles (about 5 km) in diameter and its age is estimated to be less than 300 million years.

Cumberland Gap (el. 1,600 ft) is a pass through the Cumberland Mountains region of the Appalachian Mountains, also known as the Cumberland Water Gap, at the junction of the U.S. states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. Famous in American history for its role as one key passageway through the lower central Appalachians, it was an important part of the Wilderness Road and is now part of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
