Lawrence, Kansas
Lawrence is the sixth largest city in the U.S. state of Kansas and the county seat of Douglas County. Located in northeastern Kansas, Lawrence is the anchor city of the Lawrence, Kansas, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Douglas County. Located 25 miles east of Topeka, Kansas, and 41 miles west of Kansas City, Missouri, it is situated along the banks of the Kansas and Wakarusa Rivers. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 87,643.

The Lawrence Massacre, also known as Quantrill's Raid, was a rebel guerrilla attack during the U.S. Civil War by Quantrill's Raiders, led by William Clarke Quantrill, on the pro-Union town of Lawrence, Kansas.

Music For The Masses (MFTM) is an annual concert held every summer in Lawrence, Kansas. Historically the concert has taken place at Burcham Park (200 Indiana Street) on the third Saturday in July. The artist line-up is usually acts from the local music scene; however, out of state acts have performed as well. Music For The Masses 2007 (B3) is scheduled to take place after the first week of school for the local university (Kansas University).

The Lawrence Amtrak station is a train station near downtown Lawrence, Kansas, United States served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Lawrence Station was built in 1956 by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad to replace the original Atchison Topeka Santa Fe Station built in 1883 which was damaged by the 1951 flood.
U.S. 40 and 59 Bridges
The U.S. 40 and 59 Bridges are twin multi-beam girder bridges over the Kansas River at Lawrence, Kansas. The west bridge carries two lanes of southbound traffic, connecting to Vermont Street, while the east bridge carries two lanes of northbound from Massachusetts Street. Both bridges converge on the north end to become North 2nd Street. The east bridge is also the third bridge to be built at this location.

The Lawrence Public Library is a public library located in Lawrence, Kansas. It serves the City of Lawrence, and, through its membership in the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS), all of the citizens of the NEKLS multi-county regional library system. It is governed by a board of trustees consisting of seven members.
Lawrence Arts Center
The Lawrence Arts Center was established in Lawrence, Kansas in May 1974 to support the visual and performing arts. In 2002, the Center opened a new facility that included studios, gallery space, a performance space, a gallery shop and space for an arts-based preschool.

McCook Field (stadium)
McCook Field was a stadium in Lawrence, Kansas. It hosted the University of Kansas Jayhawks football team until they moved to Memorial Stadium in 1921. The stadium held 15,000 people at its peak and was opened in 1892. The stadium was financied by John James McCook.

Lawrence blockhouses
In spring 1864 a series of blockhouses were built in Lawrence, Kansas, to provide defnsive structures in case of attack by Confederate guerrillas. On August 21, 1863, Lawrence had been attacked by 400 guerrillas and Confederate Army recruits under the command of William C. Quantrill. Lawrence was caught virtually defenseless and much of the town was destroyed and about 180 men and boys were killed, most of them defenseless. A militia became active by spring 1864 to prevent another attack.
