North Grand Mall is a 340,000-square-foot shopping center serving the city of Ames, Iowa and owned by GK Development, Inc. since 2004. In 2006, plans were announced for a $30 million renovation and expansion. In 2004, a farmers' market operated at the mall. The mall's anchor stores are JCPenney and Younkers, with a third anchor having announced its closure in late 2008. Veenker Memorial Golf Course
Veenker Memorial Golf Course is a public golf course which is owned and operated by Iowa State University. The golf course was completed in 1938 and has hosted the Iowa Master's golf tournament since then. In 1959 the course was renamed for George F. Veenker, who was the head football coach at Iowa State from 1931 to 1936. In 2003 Veenker was ranked among "America's Best State Public Access Courses" by Golfweek magazine.
