Sergeant John F. Baker, Jr. Bridge
The Sergeant John F. Baker, Jr. , Bridge, also the Baker Bridge or Interstate 280 Bridge, carries Interstate 280 across the Mississippi River between Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Illinois. The bridge opened in 1973 with a blue and yellow color scheme, thought to be unique in the state. In 2007, it was repainted all blue. On July 30, 2010, the bridge was officially named the Sergeant John F. Baker, Jr. Bridge.
Rockingham Township, Iowa
Rockingham Township was laid out in 1836 in Section 8 of Scott County, Iowa, United States, about four miles below the business section of Davenport. The first government surveyors of 1837 note its existence. It was a rival of its eastern neighbor, Davenport, for several years and contested for the county seat. The 11 square miles of the Township were annexed by, and became a part of, the City of Davenport on January 22, 1958.

Originally and now called Credit Island, Suburban Island was once a highly sought recreational area.
Offerman's Island
John and Dorothea Offerman had fours sons in about 1868 when they moved from a farm between Slopertown road and Harrison street northwest of Davenport, IA and bought then Credit Island and renamed it Offerman's Island. In 1894 the county land ownership maps still showed John as the owner of Credit Island.
