Williamson County, Illinois
Williamson County is a county located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Illinois in the area known as Little Egypt. In the 19th century it was the site of a ten-year long feud known as the Bloody Vendetta that claimed many lives. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 66,357, which is an increase of 8.3% from 61,296 in 2000. Its county seat is Marion. Williamson is a rapidly growing county in the Metro Lakeland area and is located 88 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO.

Marion is a city in and the county seat of Williamson County, Illinois, United States. The population was 17,193 at the 2010 census. It is part of a dispersed urban area that developed out of the early 20th Century coal fields. Today Marion serves as the largest retail trade center in Southern Illinois with its central location along Interstate 57 and Illinois Route 13 (colloquially known as Southern Illinois' "Main Street").

Rent One Park is a stadium in Marion, Illinois that was completed in 2007. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. The Crab Orchard and Egyptian Railroad is a Class III common carrier shortline railroad that operates between the cities of Marion and Herrin in the Southern Illinois region. It is most historically recognized by the FRA for being the last U.S. railroad of any kind to use steam locomotives exclusively in regular revenue freight service up until 1986.
Chamness, Illinois
Chamness is a former unincorporated community in Williamson County, Illinois that disappeared with the establishment of the Ordill in the late 1930s and takeover by the Department of War in 1941 following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The site of the community is now located within the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge southwest of Marion. The community was established 24 January 1889 and discontinued 30 April 1902. The name came from the first two postmasters, Marshall E.
