George L. Luthy Memorial Botanical Garden
The autumn of 2011 marked the 60th anniversary of Luthy Botanical Garden, a Peoria landmark known for magnificent flower shows, botanical displays, events and horticultural education. The current facility opened on November 21, 1951 with the Chrysanthemum Show, originally a popular show at the ornate Palm House, the first structure built in Glen Oak Park in 1896.
Peoria Lake
Peoria Lake is a section of the Illinois River between Peoria in Peoria County, Illinois and East Peoria in Tazewell County, Illinois. The oldest section of Peoria, the largest city on the river, lies at its shores. The lake is formed by a broadening of the Illinois River, and was first mentioned by the Louis Joliet and Jacques Marquette expedition in 1674. Several important Native American settlements were located close to it, like the main villages of the Kickapoo and Potawatomi tribes.

Woodruff Career and Technical Center is a public vocational school located in Peoria, Illinois. Until 2010, it was a standard comprehensive high school known as E. N. Woodruff High School, and was more commonly known as Woodruff High School or simply Woodruff. The original high school opened in 1937 and was closed for one school year (2010–2011), re-opening as a specialized high school with its current name for 2011–2012.
McClugage Bridge
The McClugage Bridge carries U.S. Route 24 and U.S. Route 150 over Upper Peoria Lake in the Illinois River in Illinois, United States. The bridge's official name honors David H. McClugage, mayor of Peoria from 1937 to 1941. The crossing is actually composed of two bridges, one carrying westbound traffic and one carrying eastbound traffic.
St. Bernard Parish (Peoria, Illinois)
St. Bernard Parish or St. Bernard's Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in Peoria, Illinois. In 1901, the parish purchased land in the East Bluff neighborhood of Peoria. The church was dedicated in October 1904. The church is located at 509 East Kansas Street, and the former school is across the street at 512 East Kansas Street. The school opened with 30 students and only two teachers. The school closed in 2004. St. Bernard church remains open.

The zoo is owned and operated by the Peoria Park District and is open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Years Day. The Peoria Zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1976.
Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute
Academy of Our Lady and Spalding Institute were Catholic high schools across the street from each other in downtown Peoria, Illinois. The Academy (AOL), a girls' school, traced its lineage back to 1863. The Spalding Institute (SI), the boys' school, was founded in 1899 by the Franciscan Brothers of Mountbellew, Ireland, at the invitation of John Lancaster Spalding, the first Bishop of Peoria.
Taft Homes
The Taft Homes are a public housing project located off the Illinois River in Peoria, Illinois. In total there are 200 apartments in Taft, housed in separate wood framed buildings. The Taft Homes are currently in the early stages of a redevelopment project that calls for the demolition of all current units, with the lots then transformed into mixed-income housing.
