The station opened in 1970 as part of the Kennedy extension the Milwaukee Elevated from Logan Square to Jefferson Park.

Irving Park is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system, serving the Blue Line. The station is located in the median of the Kennedy Expressway in the Irving Park neighborhood. Irving Park is one of two stations that stops in a highway median where the entrance is below the platform; Rosemont is the other. The station opened in 1970 as a part of the Kennedy extension of the Milwaukee Elevated from Logan Square to Jefferson Park.
Addison (CTA Blue Line station)

Admiral Theatre
The Admiral Theatre in Chicago, Illinois opened in 1927 as a vaudeville house. it was designed by Gallup and Joy and acquired by the Balaban and Katz circuit. The Admiral closed sometime in the late 1950s, and remained shuttered for many years until opening in 1969 as an all-cartoon venue. Unable to draw the crowds necessary to remain open, the Admiral closed again. In the early 1970s, the Admiral was opened as an adult movie house.
Whistle Stop Inn
The Whistle Stop Inn is a two-story building in Chicago, Illinois that has held a variety of businesses. Built in 1889 in the Irving Park neighborhood, it represents a type of intimate neighborhood storefront that was common but is now rare. The Whistle Stop Inn was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1990. It is at 4200 W. Irving Park Road, just off the Kennedy Expressway.
St. Wenceslaus Church
St. Wenceslaus (Polish: Kościół Świętego Wacława) - historic church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago located in, Chicago, Illinois. One of the many Polish churches visible from the Kennedy Expressway, it is, along with St. Hyacinth Basilica, one of two monumental religious edifices that dominates the Avondale skyline. It is well known for its unique architecture, as well as being the site where photographer and historic preservationist Richard Nickel was married.

Carl Schurz High School is a 4-year public high school located in the old section of the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. This school is named after German–American Carl Schurz, a statesman, soldier, and advocate of democracy in Germany. The school building, which represents a combination of the Chicago and Prairie schools of architecture, was designed in 1910 by Dwight H. Perkins and designated a Chicago Landmark on December 7, 1979.

The house was built in 1874 by an unknown architect for Stephen A. Race. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on September 22, 1988. The Stephen A. Race House is a classic Victorian Italianate – built from 1873 to 1874 for Stephen A. Race, one of the founders of Irving Park, along with his brother, Charles T.
