Columbus is a city in and the county seat of Muscogee County, Georgia, United States, with which it is consolidated. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 189,885. It is the principal city of the Columbus, Georgia metropolitan area, which had a 2011 estimated population of 301,439, according to the US Census. It joins with the Auburn, Alabama metropolitan area to form the Columbus, Georgia-Auburn, Alabama Combined Statistical Area, which had a 2011 estimated population of 466,089.

Baker High School (Columbus, Georgia)
Baker High School was built in 1943 in the shadow of Fort Benning, Georgia. It was named for Newton Diehl Baker, Secretary of War during World War I. The first graduates received their diplomas in 1945. Baker High served Columbus and Fort Benning for nearly fifty years, producing graduates who excelled in scholarship, athletics, and the arts. The last class of seniors graduated on June 6, 1991. The Baker name lives on at Baker Middle School a few blocks east on Benning Drive.

NerdaCon is a multi-genre fan convention (first seen as a "gaming, popular arts, and crafts convention") held annually since 2007 at Columbus State University by the school's Campus Nerds group, a campus organization that describes itself as "an organization that embraces all special interests and gives its members a community of like minded invidiviuals". Each year, the con is titled "NerdaCon vX", where "X" is the number of the con (The first was "v1", the second was "v2", etc.).
Aflac Building
The Aflac Building, located in Columbus, Georgia, is the tallest building in the U.S. state of Georgia outside of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and Savannah. It Is located about 2½ miles east of downtown. The building is 246 feet (75 m) tall. It serves as the headquarters for Aflac, an insurance company. Shortly after renovation was completed on the building in late 2010, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) awarded it with a gold certificate.
