Duval County, Florida
Duval County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 864,263. Its county seat is Jacksonville, with which the Duval County government has been consolidated since 1968. Duval County was established in 1822, and is named for William Pope DuVal, Governor of Florida Territory from 1822 to 1834.

Andrew Jackson High School (Jacksonville)
Andrew Jackson Senior High School is the oldest fully accredited high school in Duval County, Florida. It is located just north of downtown Jacksonville on Main Street (US Highway 17). It opened in 1927, followed by Robert E. Lee High School, which opened in 1928. It was originally an all-white school, but the school became integrated in 1970. It is named for U.S. President Andrew Jackson, an important figure in the history of Florida, after whom the city of Jacksonville is also named.
LaVilla Museum
The LaVilla Museum is a museum of African American history and culture located in the 1929 Ritz Theater in Jacksonville, Florida. The museum opened in 1999. The museum documents the culture and history of people of African descent (most slaves, some free, and not all Americans) in northeast Florida prior to that territory's entry as a U.S. state in 1845, as well as LaVilla neighborhood of downtown Jacksonville (which was once a large and thriving African American community).
Ritz Theatre (Jacksonville)
The Ritz Theatre is an African-American oriented theatre in the LaVilla neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. The theater, which seats 426, is used for a variety of music, dance and theatrical productions, as well as movies. The spacious lobby is also used for private functions. Just off the lobby is the LaVilla Museum which holds 11,000 square feet of exhibits. LaVilla is considered "the mecca for African American culture and heritage" in Florida.

Rosa L. Parks/FCCJ is a transit station on the JTA Skyway. It is located on Hogan Street between State Street and Union Street, and is the northern terminus of the system. It is across the street from the Downtown campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville. The next station in the line is Hemming Plaza to the south.
