Panama City is a city and the county seat of Bay County, Florida, United States. Located along U.S. Route 98, it is the largest city between Tallahassee and Pensacola. Bay County Courthouse (Florida)
The Bay County Courthouse is an historic yellow brick courthouse building located at 300 East 4th Street in Panama City, Florida. Built in 1915 in the Classical Revival style, it is Bay County's first and only courthouse. After a 1920 fire gutted the building, it was rebuilt in a much simpler form without its entrance pediment, gabled roof system and ornate central clock tower. The entrance columns and entablature, however, were retained. Later additions have been built on its left side.
2010 Panama City school board shootings
The 2010 Panama City school board shootings occurred on December 14, 2010 in Panama City, Florida. In the attack, a disgruntled individual, Clay Allen Duke, fired more than a dozen shots at six Bay District School board members, but missed them all, including the superintendent. Duke was then shot several times by security guard Mike Jones, a former policeman; shortly afterward Duke killed himself with a shot to the head.
