National Zoological Park (United States)

Duke Ellington Bridge
The Duke Ellington Bridge, named after Duke Ellington, carries Calvert Street NW over Rock Creek in Washington, D.C. , United States. It connects 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan with Connecticut Avenue NW in Woodley Park, just north of the Taft Bridge. Originally called the "Calvert Street Bridge", it was designed by Paul Philippe Cret in a neoclassical style and built in 1935.
Maret School
Maret School was founded by Marthe Maret in 1911 as a French primary school. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, three French sisters, Mlles Marthe, Louise, and Jeanne Maret, left their home in Geneva, Switzerland to teach. Louise taught in Russia, Jeanne in the Philippines, and Marthe, who became blind at age 18, in Washington, D.C. By 1911, Louise and Jeanne had joined Marthe in the nation's capital. That year, Maret French School was founded, later to be named Maret School.

Woodley Park, Washington, D.C
Woodley Park is a neighborhood in Northwest, Washington, DC. It is bounded on the north by Woodley Road and Klingle Road, on the east by the National Zoo and Rock Creek Park, on the south by Calvert Street, on the southwest by Cleveland Avenue, and on the west by 34th Street. Adjoining neighborhoods are Cleveland Park to the north, Mount Pleasant and Adams Morgan to the east, Kalorama to the south, Woodland-Normanstone Terrace to the southwest, and Massachusetts Heights to the west.
Omni Shoreham Hotel
The Shoreham Hotel is a hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C. , owned by Omni Hotels. It is located at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Calvert Street. Built in 1930, the building was designed by Waddy Butler Wood. The hotel has also been an entertainment venue having been the home of Mark Russell and The Capitol Steps.
Klingle Road
Klingle Road is a street in Washington, D.C.. A portion of the road was closed to traffic in 1991 due to erosion damage. It has been the focus of a long dispute between District residents who wanted the road repaired and residents who wanted to keep this portion of Rock Creek Park free of automobile traffic.
Tregaron (estate)
Tregaron is a 20-acre estate in Washington, D. C. on the grounds of The Causeway. The property, originally part of a larger estate, "Twin Oaks", was bought by Gardiner Greene Hubbard, founder of the National Geographic Society, in the 1880s, and named "The Causeway". His daughter Mabel married Alexander Graham Bell, and inherited the property, which she sold to James Parmelee, a Cleveland financier. He hired Charles Adams Platt to design a country house for the property.
Woodley Mansion
Woodley is a Federal-style hilltop house in Washington, D.C. , constructed in 1801. It has served as the home to influential leaders, such as Grover Cleveland, Martin Van Buren, and Henry L. Stimson, and is now the home of the Maret School. When originally built, it was based on the Woodley Lodge in Reading, England. Coincidentally, given the mansion's original site, the word "Woodley" means "clearing in the woods.
Uncle Beazley
Uncle Beazley is a fiberglass statue by Louis Paul Jonas. It is located at the National Zoological Park, near Lemur Island, Northwest, Washington, D.C. Originally created for The Enormous Egg television show in 1968. It was donated to the Smithsonian Institution by the Sinclair Company. It was located at the National Zoo, the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum, and then the National Museum of Natural History, until 1994. From 1994 to 2003, it was at the rhinoceros yard at the National Zoo.
