Federal Center SW is an island platformed Washington Metro station in an area of Southwest known as the Southwest Federal Center in Washington, D.C. , United States. The station was opened on July 1, 1977, and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Providing service for both the Blue and Orange Lines, the station is also scheduled to be on the Silver Line route, which is expected to start operations in 2013. The station is located at 3rd and D Streets.

Southwest (SW or S.W. ) is the southwestern quadrant of Washington, D.C. , the capital of the United States, and is located south of the National Mall and west of South Capitol Street. It is the smallest quadrant of the city. Southwest is small enough that it is frequently referred to as a neighborhood in and of itself. However, it actually contains five separate neighborhoods. Its community newspaper, The Southwester, is a free monthly publication that provides neighborhood news and updates.
L'Enfant Plaza
L'Enfant Plaza is a complex of one governmental and three commercial buildings, as well as the "La Promenade" shopping mall, in the Southwest section of Washington, D.C. The plaza is located south of Independence Avenue SW between 12th and 9th Streets SW (9th Street actually runs underneath the centers of the buildings on the easternmost side of the plaza).
Arena Stage (Washington, D.C.)
Arena Stage is a not-for-profit regional theater based in Southwest Washington, D.C. It was a pioneer in 1950 of the Regional Theater Movement. It is located at a theatre complex called the Mead Center for American Theater since its opening in 2010 after extensive renovation; this included construction of a third small theater in a complex with two stages: one a theatre in the round and the other a proscenium style. The Artistic Director is Molly Smith and the Executive Producer is Edgar Dobie.

Mary Switzer Building
The Mary Switzer Building, in Washington D.C. , was dedicated in 1973. It was formerly the building for what was then known as the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. For Mary E. Switzer's years of service to public welfare, and specifically to the championing of people with disabilities, the landmark was given her name. Currently the Mary Switzer Building is occupied by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education.
Waterfront Tower (Washington, D.C.)
Waterfront Tower is a condominium building in the Southwest area of Washington, D.C. It was designed by architect I. M. Pei in the 1960s, as part of the Southwest Washington Urban Renewal Plan. Located at 1101 3rd Street, the building is similar in construction to Pei's work for the Kips Bay residences in New York City, which were built during the same era.
