Union Station (WMATA station)

Union Station is a Washington Metro station in Washington, D.C. on the Red Line. The station is located in Northeast of the city under the western end of Union Station, the main train station for Washington, at which connections can be made to Amtrak intercity trains as well as the Virginia Railway Express and MARC commuter rail trains to the suburbs.

Swampoodle Grounds

Swampoodle Grounds aka Capitol Park (II) was the home of the Washington Nationals baseball team of the National League from 1886 to 1889. The park was named for the Swampoodle neighborhood. The ballfield was located on a block bounded by North Capitol Street NE and tracks (west, left field); F Street NE (south, third base); Delaware Avenue NE (east, first base); and G Street NE (north, right field); a few blocks north of the Capitol building.

Robert A. Taft Memorial

The Robert A. Taft Memorial and Carillon is a carillon dedicated as a memorial to U.S. Senator Robert A. Taft, son of President William Howard Taft. The memorial is located north of the Capitol, on Constitution Avenue between New Jersey Avenue and First Street, N.W. Designed by architect Douglas W. Orr, the memorial consists of a Tennessee marble tower and a 10-foot bronze statue of Senator Taft sculpted by Wheeler Williams.
