Simsbury Center, Connecticut
Simsbury Center is a census-designated place (CDP) that consists of the central settlement, and the neighborhoods immediately surrounding it, in the town of Simsbury, Connecticut, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 5,836. The core area of the CDP is listed as the Simsbury Center Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
Ensign-Bickford Company
The Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (formerly The Ensign-Bickford Company) was started in 1836 in Simsbury, Connecticut as a manufacturer of William Bickford's safety fuse for use in mining. Safety fuse was a great advance in mining technology over the practice of filling holes with black powder. The next step in mining technology was detonating cord. Ensign-Bickford and other companies developed different versions of detonating cord.

Pinchot Sycamore
The Pinchot Sycamore is a large American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) in Simsbury, Connecticut. It is the largest tree in Connecticut. When measured by the Connecticut Botanical Society in 2010, the Pinchot Sycamore was almost 28 feet around and 104 feet tall, with an average canopy diameter of 147 feet. The sycamore is estimated to be at least 200 years old, and possibly over 300 years old. The tree was named in honor of influential conservationist and Connecticut resident Gifford Pinchot.
