Shady Glen
Shady Glen, officially Shady Glen Dairy Stores, is a restaurant with two locations in Manchester, Connecticut. John and Bernice Rieg opened the first Shady Glen store near the Manchester/Bolton town line in 1948. They followed up with a second store located in the Manchester Parkade shopping center in 1965. It is now owned by William and Annette Hoch.
Blackledge River
The Blackledge River begins 2.5 miles southeast of Manchester, Connecticut just north of Route 534 in a gully near Converse Road. The Blackledge runs for 16.4 miles until it flows into the Salmon River. A popular whitewater paddling route begins at West Road about 4 miles south of Gay City State Park. There are frequent Class I-II whitewater rapids throughout the route to the Salmon River. The Blackledge River Railroad Bridge is a historic bridge that crosses the river.

Manchester Memorial Hospital
Manchester Memorial Hospital is an acute care hospital located in central Manchester, Connecticut, an eastern Connecticut community about 10 minutes east of Hartford. The hospital opened in 1920 and was dedicated as a memorial to all Manchester residents who died during the First World War. In 1970, the hospital was rededicated as a memorial to veterans of all wars. MMH is a 249-bed facility.
