Rentschler Field (stadium)
Rentschler Field is a stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut. It is primarily used for football, and is the home field of the University of Connecticut Huskies. Starting in the fall of 2010, it became home to the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. The stadium, which opened in 2003, was the first stadium used primarily by an NCAA Division I-A (now FBS) team to open in the 21st century. It holds 40,000 people and can be expanded.
Hockanum (East Hartford)
Hockanum is a neighborhood in southwest East Hartford, Connecticut. The area is named after the Hockanum River, and has an elementary school of the same name. East Hartford High School is the public high school of East Hartford, Connecticut, along with its next-door neighbor, Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy (CIBA), a college-preparatory high school for grades 9-12. East Hartford High is notably diverse for a suburban school, having a 34% black, 33% white, 28% Hispanic and 5% Asian student population. Its enrollment is roughly 2,200 students. The school offers several AP courses and is recognized nationally for its activities program.
Rentschler Heliport
Rentschler Heliport is a private heliport for the exclusive use of United Technologies Corporation, located 2 miles southeast of East Hartford, Connecticut. From 1933 to about 1997, Rentschler Field was an airfield used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II as a fighter base.
Academy School, Glastonbury
Academy School is a former school complex located in Glastonbury, Connecticut, USA. It was discontinued for school use in 2001 with the opening of the Smith Middle School and renovation of the Gideon Welles School. From 1974–2001, Academy School was the town's sixth-grade school, although it housed some fifth-grade students as well for many years. Among many other uses, Academy also served as the Glastonbury High School from 1923–1952.
Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy
Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy (CIBA) is a magnet school located in East Hartford, Connecticut right next door to East Hartford High School connected by a bridge. The school has three academic levels: college-preparatory, honors, and AP levels. The school is highly integrated with East Hartford High School, as many CIBA students take classes in the main high school building and vice versa. CIBA's current principle is Art Arpin.
Goodwin College
Goodwin College is a private, nonprofit, four year institution located on One Riverside Drive, East Hartford, Connecticut. The college offers a variety of certificate and associate degree programs along with bachelor degree programs in child study, health science, organizational studies, and RN-BSN. Rentschler Field (airport)
Rentschler Field was an airport in East Hartford, Connecticut in use from 1933 to 1999. Originally a military facility, later a private corporate airport, it was decommissioned in 1999, after which the football stadium of the same name was built on the site.
