Lake Compounce
Lake Compounce is an amusement park located in Bristol, Connecticut, United States and a part of the neighboring town of Southington; the lake itself lies completely in Southington. Opened in 1846, it is the oldest continuously-operating amusement park in the United States. The amusement park covers 332 acres (1.3 km²) of land. The amusement park also has a beach and a waterpark which can be enjoyed by guests for no extra charge.
Bristol Eastern High School
Bristol Eastern High School is a public high school in Bristol, Connecticut, USA which was opened in 1959. It has an enrollment of 1,354 students in grades 9-12. The main head (principal) of the school, as of 2010, is Dr. Steve Wysowski. They have excelled in athletics in the 2010 fall season with the football team finishing their season 9-2, losing their second loss in the quarter final round of the Class L state championship to Masuk, champion of the division.
Boulder Dash (roller coaster)
Boulder Dash is a wooden roller coaster located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. It first opened in 2000 and was built by Custom Coasters International. The ride's structure was built with Southern Yellow Pine wood and the track is made of Douglas Fir wood. The trains were built by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters.
Zoomerang (Lake Compounce)
Zoomerang is the name of a steel roller coaster located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. It uses the boomerang design. Zoomerang is one of the forty-five functioning boomerang style roller coasters in the world. They all feature a cobra roll and a loop, but the Lake Compounce Boomerang was the first boomerang to receive a Vekoma designed train. Early models used trains designed by Arrow Dynamics. After the coaster finishes its cycle, it runs in reverse.
Wildcat (Lake Compounce)
Wildcat is the name of a wooden roller coaster located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. It was built in 1927 and is the park's centerpiece. It is one of the world's oldest operating roller coasters (in operation at the same location). With a first drop of only 73 feet, it's not too intense making it popular with younger guests. The entire structure was rebuilt with new wood in 1985, and the last bunny hills were retracked in 2004.
Kiddie Coaster (Lake Compounce)
Kiddie Coaster is the name of a steel roller coaster located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. Manufactured by Molina & Son's and was installed in 1997. Children no taller than 56 inches and no shorter than 36 inches can ride this kid sized coaster by themselves, adults may ride if accompanied by a child under 56 inches. The train has 5 cars that each seat two children.
Lake Plunge
Lake Plunge is the name of a unique tube water slide located at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. Two covered (dark) slides take riders for a plunge into the lake. Lake Plunge is one of Splash Harbor's major attractions. Lake Plunge was removed after the 2011 season to make room for expansion and the new ride for 2012 Riptide Racer. The park has mentioned that the Lake Plunge slides will be used on a water complex in the future, but will not go into the lake.
Terry Homestead
The Bristol Fletcher Terry Homestead (also known as the Terry Homestead and Fletcher Terry House) was a historical building in Bristol, Connecticut dating to 1748. After years of neglect, the building was demolished beginning in 2012.
