Tunitas Creek
Tunitas Creek is a 6.6-mile-long stream in San Mateo County, California. Tunitas is Spanish for "Little Prickly Pears". Historically the creek was also known as Arroyo de Las Tunitas. An all-weather paved county road, Tunitas Creek Road, follows the creek from its source at 1,860 feet on Kings Mountain in the Santa Cruz Mountains to its outflow at the Pacific Ocean, at Tunitas Beach.

This area provides access to miles of gently sloping, sandy beaches at the base of high sandstone bluffs. This day-use facility features a small lagoon, roaring surf - and a wide parking area, picnic tables, and barbecues. It was named after José Pomponio Lupugeym, a Native American outlaw.
