Deer Park Monastery

Deer Park Monastery is a 400-acre Buddhist sanctuary in Escondido, California. It was founded in July 2000 by monastic and lay practitioners from Plum Village, France. The monastery is under the direct guidance of Thich Nhat Hanh and his Order of Interbeing in the Vietnamese Zen tradition. Deer Park follows the same practices and schedule as Plum Village and its sister monastery Blue Cliff Monastery in New York and Magnolia Grove Monastery in Mississippi.

Palomar Medical Center

Palomar Medical Center (PMC) is a two-campus hospital located in Escondido, California. It is operated by the Palomar Pomerado Health (PPH) District, which also operates Pomerado Hospital in nearby Poway. PMC is the only designated trauma center in northern San Diego County. Kit Carson Park

Kit Carson Park is a 285 acre municipal park in Escondido, California. The park was named after Christopher (Kit) Carson, the famous scout who guided Captain John C. Frémont over the Sierra Nevada Mountains during a government exploration expedition. The park sits in a valley that is approximately five miles west of where Kit Carson fought in the Battle of San Pasqual.
