Kentfield (formerly Ross Landing, Tamalpais, and Kent) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marin County, California, United States, just north of San Francisco. Kentfield is located on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad 2 miles southwest of downtown San Rafael, at an elevation of 115 feet (35 m). The population was 6,485 at the 2010 census. The ZIP code is 94904, and is shared with the neighboring community of Greenbrae.

Marin Academy (familiarly known as MA) is a private college preparatory high school in San Rafael, California. Located on the campus that for decades housed the San Rafael Military Academy prior to its closure, MA was founded in 1971 with 16 faculty and a student body of 59. Marin Academy is one of the most competitive private high schools in the Bay Area to gain acceptance to. In the 2007–2008 school year, Marin Academy accepted only one in five students who applied.

The Ali Akbar College of Music is the name of three schools founded by Indian musician Ali Akbar Khan to teach Indian classical music. The first was founded in 1956 in Calcutta, India. Each season, running from September through August, includes six plays in full production, a Holiday Show in December and two Festivals.
Saint Mark's School
Saint Mark's is a coeducational, independent, kindergarten-eighth grade school in San Rafael, California, in Marin County. The school was established by an Episcopal parish in 1980. Within a few years, it moved away from the Episcopal Church and is now an independent school with no religious affiliation. Damon Kerby has been the headmaster since 1987.
Marin Community College District
The Marin Community College District (MCCD) is the community college district serving Marin County, California. In addition to traditional college-age students, the District serves concurrently-enrolled high- and middle-school students, as well as adults. MCCD operates one community college, the College of Marin. MCCD is one of three California community college districts on "basic aid" and therefore receives most of its operating revenue from local property taxes.

Rancho Cañada de Herrera was a 6,658-acre Mexican land grant in present day Marin County, California given in 1839 by Governor Protem Manuel Jimeno to Domingo Sais (also spelled Saens or Saez). The grant encompassed present day Fairfax, Sleepy Hollow and a part of San Anselmo.
Rancho San Pedro, Santa Margarita y Las Gallinas
Rancho San Pedro, Santa Margarita y Las Gallinas was a 21,679-acre Mexican land grant in present day Marin County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Timothy Murphy (Timoteo Murphy). Las Gallinas means "the hens" in Spanish. The grant extended from east of Nicasio, California, south east along the Lucas Valley, California, then along Miller Creek to Las Gallinas and the San Pablo Bay.
