The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the police department of the city of Los Angeles, California. With 10,023 officers and 2,879 civilian staff, covering an area of 498 square miles with a population of 3,792,621 million people as of the 2010 Census, it is the third largest local law enforcement agency in the United States, after the New York City Police Department and the Chicago Police Department.

Southern California Institute of Architecture
The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles, California, is an independent, nonprofit school offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture. It offers community design and outreach programs, and free public access to frequent exhibitions and lectures by leading thinkers in architecture. Founded in 1972, SCI-Arc is widely regarded as one of the most avant-garde U.S. architecture schools, with a reputation for pushing the boundaries of academic study.
Parker Center
Parker Center was the headquarters for the Los Angeles Police Department from 1954 until October 2009 and is located in Downtown LA. The building was named for former LAPD chief William H. Parker. Originally called the Police Administration Building (PAB), groundbreaking for the center broken on December 30, 1952, and construction was completed in 1955. The architect was Welton Becket. The building combined police facilities that had been located throughout the Civic Center area.
Toy District, Los Angeles
The Toy District is located in the industrial section of eastern Downtown Los Angeles, roughly bounded by Los Angeles Street on the West, Third and Fifth Streets to the North and South, and extending eastward to San Pedro Street. The Toy District emerged in the 1970s. During the day the district has several retail stores that specialize in inexpensive novelties and electronics, primarily imported from China.
Historic Core, Los Angeles
The Historic Core is a neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles between Hill and Main streets on the west and east, and 3rd and 9th streets on the north and south. It overlaps with the Jewelry District on its western end and Skid Row on its eastern end. It was the center of the city before World War II.

Gallery Row, Los Angeles
Gallery Row is a district in Downtown Los Angeles designated by the City Council in 2003 to promote the concentration of art galleries along Main Street and Spring Street and to create a thriving, pedestrian-friendly, culturally abundant, urban neighborhood. Gallery Row spans north-south along Main and Spring Streets from 2nd Street in the north to 9th Street in the south.
The Smell
The Smell is an all ages, alcohol and drug-free punk rock/noise/experimental venue in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The Smell, notable for its DIY ethic, is home to many of the area's avant-garde performers and artists. The venue is maintained by Jim Smith, one of the four original organizers of the club, a constantly evolving group of volunteers, and the Danny and Frank security street team.
Japanese American National Museum
The Japanese American National Museum opened its doors in 1992. The idea for the museum was originally thought up by Bruce Kaji with help from other notable Japanese American people at the time. The museum is located in the Little Tokyo area near downtown Los Angeles, California. It is devoted to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans.
Old Bank District, Los Angeles
Located in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles, the Old Bank District is a group of early 20th century commercial buildings, many of which have been (or are being) converted into residential use. The Old Bank District is bordered roughly by the Jewelry District, the Fashion District, Gallery Row, the Toy District, and the city's Civic Center - specifically the block from Main to Spring streets between 4th and 5th.

Zenshuji
Zenshuji Soto Mission, established in 1922 in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles, California, was the first Soto Zen Buddhist temple in North America. Today, it is the North American headquarters for Soto Zen, under the guidance of Sotoshu Shumucho (the headquarters of Soto Zen in Japan), and is a direct branch of Eiheiji and Sojiji (the two head temples in Japan).
Skid Row, Los Angeles
Skid Row, officially known as Central City East, is an area of Downtown Los Angeles. As of the 2000 census, the population of the district was 17,740. While no defined boundaries exist, Skid Row is generally used to refer to the area east of San Pedro Street, south of Third Street, west of Central Avenue, and north of Seventh Street.
The Downtown Independent
The Downtown Independent is a theater and cinema located in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles, California. It is operated by the Downtown Independent and owned by Orange County, California's Cinema Properties Group. Closed since the mid-1980s, the former Linda Lea Theatre was originally the Arrow Theatre and later the Aztec in the 1920s and '30s. In April 2007, crews began construction on the site of the former Linda Lea theater at 251 South Main Street.
Higgins Building
The Higgins Building is a proto-Modernist concrete framed building rendered in the Beaux-Arts style located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Completed in 1910 by owner Thomas Higgins, an Irish American, the 10-story building was originally used for office space. The Engineers and Architects were Albert C. Martin, Sr. and A.L. Haley. It has been designated as a historical monument by the City as Historic-Cultural Monument #873.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Downtown
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Downtown is located in Los Angeles, California, USA. Managed by RIM Hospitality Inc. , the hotel is located in the Little Tokyo area of downtown Los Angeles at at 120 South Los Angeles Street. Opened in 1977, it was the New Otani Hotel & Garden for thirty years until a change of ownership in 2007, when it became the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens.
Caltrans District 7 Headquarters
The Caltrans District 7 Headquarters building at 100 South Main Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California serves the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation. Built on a $165,000,000 budget it opened on September 24 2004. Its futuristic and environmentally friendly design has won its designer Thom Mayne the 2005 Pritzker Prize.
United States Court House (Los Angeles, 1940)
The United States Court House in Downtown Los Angeles is a Moderne style building that originally served as both a post office and a courthouse. The building was designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood and Louis A. Simon, and construction was completed in 1940. The United States Court House initially housed court facilities for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, until the District was redrawn in 1966.
L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival
The L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival (LACS) is an annual film festival held in the spring in Los Angeles, California. LACS programs short films exclusively in the comedy genre, and is the largest festival of its kind in the United States. During the four-day event, between 60-90 comedy short films from around the world are screened at the festival's main venue in Downtown Los Angeles, with additional industry panels and parties taking place at various locations around the city.
International Savings & Exchange Bank Building
The International Savings & Exchange Bank Building (also known as the International Savings Building), was built in the Spring Street Financial District of Los Angeles in 1907. Standing ten floors, it was designed in the Renaissance Revival and Italianate styles by architect H. Alban Reaves (some sources spell Reeves), who had previously designed several structures in New York, including what is now the south building of the historic Schuyler Arms.
National Japanese American Veterans Memorial Court
The National Japanese American Veterans Memorial Court is a national memorial court in Los Angeles, California, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of Japanese American veterans during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. It is maintained by and located adjacent to the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center on San Pedro Street, in Little Tokyo.

Shalimar Radio is a Pakistani Radio that operated through purchased Air Time from Channel 900 AM, from KALI (AM) in West Covina, California. This radio station was founded by a Pakistani American citizen group in Los Angeles, United States in 2008. The radio's founders were Arsal Awan and Khalid Imran. The radio station primarily advocates freedom of speech promoting liberal islamic movements of modern times.
Koyasan Buddhist Temple
, also known as Koyasan Buddhist Temple, is a temple located in Los Angeles, California, USA, in Little Tokyo. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest existing Buddhist temples in the North American region. The temple is a branch of the Koyasan Shingon Buddhism sect, and is the North and South American regional headquarters for this sect.
