It was named for Henry Gaylord Wilshire (1861–1927), an Ohio native who made and lost fortunes in real estate, farming, and gold mining. Henry Wilshire initiated what was to become Wilshire Boulevard in the 1890s by clearing out a path in his barley field. A historic apartment building on Wilshire Boulevard, the Gaylord, carries his middle name.

Hazy Moon Zen Center
The Hazy Moon Zen Center is a Soto Zen center in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1996 by William Nyogen Yeo Roshi through the honorary founder Taizan Maezumi Roshi. Nyogen Roshi practiced 27 years with Maezumi Roshi and was the last of the successors in the Maezumi Roshi Lineage. As an active Zen temple, the Hazy Moon offers daily zazen practice that allows the public to practice with the temple monks, and Dharma talks are given by Nyogen Roshi on a weekly basis.
The Manuscripts of Oscar Wilde
The original manuscripts of Oscar Wilde today reside in many collections, including the British Library. By far the largest and most comprehensive is to be found at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, UCLA. This collection includes typescripts and copies of many letters and associated documents from Wilde's circle. Scholarly accounts of the manuscripts and Wilde's methods of working can be found among the many graduate and post graduate works.

5900 Wilshire
5900 Wilshire, or the Variety Building is a 443 ft (135m) tall skyscraper in Los Angeles, California. It was completed in 1971 and has 32 floors. It is 30th tallest building in Los Angeles, and the tallest in the Miracle Mile district, and the 2nd tallest in the Wilshire Area. The International style building was designed by architect Gin Wong of William L. Pereira & Associates. The building is across Wilshire Boulevard from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
