Kern County is a county spanning across the southern end of the California Central Valley. Covering 8,161.42 square miles, it ranges west to the southern slope of the Coast Ranges, and east beyond the southern slope of the eastern Sierra Nevada into the Mojave Desert. The population of Kern County was 839,631 in 2010, making it the eleventh most populous county in the state. Its county seat is Bakersfield. Rancho El Tejon
Rancho El Tejon was a 97,617-acre Mexican land grant in the Tehachapi Mountains, in present day Kern County, California given in 1843 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to José Antonio Aguirre and Ygnacio del Valle. It is isolated from urban development by oak studded rolling hills in the Tehachapi Mountains. The cemetery has space to accommodate caskets and cremated remains on 500 acres (200 ha) of land.

Eastside Canal
Eastside Canal is an irrigation canal in Kern County, California. It originates from a common diversion at Manor Street in Bakersfield, which also serves the Carrier Canal and Kern Island Canal. The common diversion originates from the Kern River, about 1 mile south of Gordon's Ferry. The canal terminates south of Bear Mountain Bolivard, just west of Arvin. From the common diversion, the canal travels south, roughly parallel to the Kern Island Canal.
