Heber, California
Heber is a census-designated place (CDP) in Imperial County, California. Heber is located 4.5 miles north-northwest of Calexico. The population was 4,275 at the 2010 census, up from 2,566 in 2000.
KGBA (AM)
KGBA is a radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Christian format. Licensed to Heber, California, USA, the station serves the Calexico/Mexicali area. The station is currently owned by The Voice of International Christian Evangelism, Inc. History Began as KICO "Radio Mexico" in 1990, it was a Spanish-language station with a news/talk format and broadcasted some live Los Angeles Dodgers baseball games. The station switched formats and call signs in 2003.
1940 El Centro earthquake
The 1940 El Centro earthquake (or 1940 Imperial Valley earthquake) occurred at 21:35 Pacific Standard Time on May 18 in the Imperial Valley in southeastern Southern California near the international border of the United States and Mexico. It had a magnitude of 6.9 and a maximum perceived intensity of X (Intense) on the Mercalli intensity scale. It was the first major earthquake to be recorded by a strong-motion seismograph located next to a fault rupture.
1892 Laguna Salada earthquake
The 1892 Laguna Salada earthquake occurred at 23:20 Pacific Standard Time on February 23 . It had an estimated magnitude of 7.1–7.2 on the moment magnitude scale and a maximum perceived intensity of X (Intense) on the Mercalli intensity scale. There were no reported casualties. The quake takes its name from a large dry lake bed in Baja California, Mexico.
