The Chinatown neighborhood in Oakland, California, is a pan-Asian neighborhood which reflects Oakland's diverse Asian American community. It is frequently referred to as "Oakland Chinatown" in order to distinguish it from nearby San Francisco's Chinatown. It lies at an elevation of 39 feet (12 m). 12th Street Oakland City Center is an underground Bay Area Rapid Transit station located at 12th Street and Broadway next to the Oakland City Center in Downtown Oakland. It used to be a northbound transfer station along the BART system, until that role was moved to 19th Street Oakland station on September 13, 2010. It is the fifth busiest BART station overall, and the busiest outside San Francisco.
