Rockridge (BART station)
Rockridge is a Bay Area Rapid Transit station located in the Rockridge District of Oakland, California. The station has an island platform in the center median of State Route 24 at College Avenue west of the Caldecott Tunnel. The Mountain View Cemetery is a large 226-acre cemetery in Oakland, California. It was established in 1863 by a group of East Bay pioneers under the California Rural Cemetery Act of 1859. The association they formed still operates the cemetery today. iMusicast was a music venue in Oakland, California. Established in August 1999, It was among the first venues of any sort to offer exclusive live streaming video performances of headlining music acts on the internet. The business formally ceased operation on October 29, 2005. The building at Telegraph & 55th now has the space converted for office use and it is occupied by a bakery and a design firm.
Elmwood, Berkeley, California
The Elmwood District is a neighborhood of the City of Berkeley, California. It is primarily residential, with a small commercial area. The district does not have set lines of demarcation, but is focused around College and Ashby Avenues. The most extreme definitions of the district's boundaries do not extend past Telegraph Avenue to the west, Dwight Way to the north, or the Oakland city limit to the south.
Berkeley Hills Tunnel
The Berkeley Hills Tunnel is a tunnel which carries Bay Area Rapid Transit's Pittsburg/Bay Point–SFO/Millbrae line through the Berkeley Hills between the Rockridge and Orinda stations. While the tracks run in the median of California State Route 24 on both sides of the tunnel, the Berkeley Hills Tunnel allows the tracks to take a straighter alignment offset to the north of the Caldecott Tunnel.
Chapel of the Chimes (Oakland, California)
Chapel of the Chimes was founded in 1909 as a crematory and columbarium in Oakland, California. The present building dates largely from a 1928 redevelopment based on the designs of the architect Julia Morgan. The Moorish- and Gothic-inspired interior is a maze of small rooms featuring ornate stonework, statues, gardens, fountains and mosaics. The name "chapel" refers primarily to the style of interior design, as it is not a traditional cemetery chapel building.
Peralta Elementary School, Oakland, California
Peralta Elementary School is a designated arts anchor school in the Oakland Unified School District. It was established over 100 years ago as a one-room schoolhouse, and today has over 250 students in 12 classrooms (K–5th). The school has a tradition of family involvement and activism that stretches back to the 19th century. In 2006, Peralta was one of six schools in California where African-American students scored an API that exceeded 800 on the state STAR test.
Fentons Creamery
Fentons Creamery is a historic ice cream parlor and restaurant located on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, California, USA. It opened in 1894 on the corner of 41st and Howe streets before moving to its present location in 1961, a few blocks away. Fentons was then destroyed by an arson fire in 2001.
