Payson is a town in northern Gila County, Arizona, United States. Its location puts it almost exactly in the geographic center of Arizona. Payson has been called "The Heart of Arizona". According to the Census Bureau, the population of the town is 15,301.

Payson High School is a high school located in the rural town of Payson, Arizona. It has approximately 750 students. The Payson Longhorns are well known for their wrestling program with legend Dennis Pirch as longtime coach, R.C.
