The Alaska Senate is the upper house in the Alaska Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Alaska. The Senate consists of twenty members, each of whom represents an equal amount of districts with populations of approximately 35,512 people, per 2010 Census figures. Senators serve four-year terms, without term limits. Half of the Alaska Senate is up for re-election every two years.

In 2007, this diocese became vacant when the previous bishop, Most Reverend Michael W. Warfel, was appointed bishop of Great Falls-Billings.

The Alaskan Hotel and Bar is an historic establishment and oldest operating hotel in Juneau, Alaska. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was opened as The Alaskan on September 16, 1913. Its owners, three miners who struck it rich in the nearby Coast Range, tied the hotel's keys to a helium balloon and released it, signifying that the hotel would never close. The building was briefly condemned in the 1970s, but was rehabilitated by new owners.
Starr Hill, Alaska
Starr Hill is a populated place in Juneau, Alaska, United States. It is named for Frank Starr, a 19th-century businessman of the Alaska Panhandle. The name was published in 1957 by R. N. DeArmond and entered into the Geographic Names Information System on July 12, 2000.

The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Juneau. The cathedral is located at 416 Fifth Street in Juneau, Alaska. The cathedral may be the smallest in North America. In 1885, a parish was created for the growing mining community in Alaska's Silverbow Basin. A church was built in 1886 on the same block on Fifth Street where the cathedral currently sits. This church was replaced in 1910 with the present cathedral building.

It is sponsored and organized by the Sealaska Heritage Institute, the non-profit cultural arm of Sealaska Corporation. The event consists of a three-day program of staged and parade dancing, soap berries and seaweed traditional food contests, a juried visual arts presentation, a Native crafts market, and lectures or workshops. Celebration was first held in 1982.
