Madison County, Alabama

Madison County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama, and is a major part of the Huntsville Metropolitan Area. It is also included in the merged Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. The county is named in honor of James Madison, fourth President of the United States of America, and the first to visit the state of Alabama. According to the 2010 Census, the population was 334,811. Its county seat is Huntsville. Madison County covers parts of the former Decatur County.

Randolph School

Randolph School is an American independent private kindergarten-through-12th-grade college preparatory school chartered in 1959 in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. It started in an antebellum home on Randolph Street with just a few elementary classes. A few years later it moved to a much larger 17-acre campus on Drake Avenue, where it is now located, gradually adding grade levels until having a graduating high school class in the early 1970s.

Von Braun Center

The Von Braun Center (VBC), known as the Von Braun Civic Center (VBCC) until 1997, is a multi-purpose indoor arena, meeting, and performing arts complex, with a maximum arena seating capacity of 10,000, located in Huntsville, Alabama. The original facility debuted in 1975 and has undergone several significant expansions since opening. The VBC, in addition to the arena, features multiple exhibit halls, a concert hall, a playhouse and many other facilities, for meetings and exhibits.

Huntsville-Madison County Public Library

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is a public, Carnegie library in Huntsville, Alabama. Founded in 1818, when Alabama was still a part of the Mississippi Territory, it is the oldest continuing library in the state. It was first located in the office of attorney John Nelson Spotswood Jones, in the Boardman Building, which is now a part of Constitution Hall Park.

Five Points Historic District (Huntsville, Alabama)

Big Spring Jam was an annual music festival taking place in Huntsville, Alabama. The Jam, which began in 1993, typically took place the fourth weekend in September. Dead Children's Playground

Hidden amongst the old beech trees within the limits of Maple Hill Cemetery lies the Dead Children's Playground, which in local stories is said to be haunted by the children buried nearby. J. F. Drake State Technical College

J. F. Drake State Technical College is a community college in Huntsville, Alabama. As of the Fall 2010 semester, Drake State has an enrollment of 1,258 students. The college was founded in 1961 as the Huntsville State Vocational Technical College. In 1966, the school was renamed J. F.
