Ed White Middle School

Ed White Middle School is a public 6th through 8th grade middle school in Huntsville, Alabama. It is located at 4800 Sparkman Drive in northwest Huntsville. The school is named for astronaut Edward H. White II, killed in the Apollo 1 fire at Cape Kennedy on January 27, 1967. Huntsville is home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and has strong community ties to the space program. At the same time, the Huntsville City Schools named Roger B. WHIY is an Urban oldies and Blues music formatted radio station that serves Huntsville, Alabama, and the majority of the Tennessee Valley in north Alabama, United States. The WHIY call letters were on the co-owned 1190 AM signal until a 2006 re-alignment with co-owned WEUV (originally 1700 AM) and WEUP (originally 1600 AM). 2010 University of Alabama in Huntsville shooting

At the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UA Huntsville) in Huntsville, Alabama, three people were killed and three others wounded in a shooting on February 12, 2010. During the course of a routine meeting of the biology department attended by approximately 12 people, a professor stood up and began shooting those closest to her with a 9-millimeter handgun.
