Hoover, Alabama

Hoover is a city in Jefferson and Shelby Counties in north central Alabama, in the United States. The largest suburb of Birmingham, the population of the city was 81,619 in the 2010 census. Hoover is part of the Birmingham-Hoover, AL MSA (metropolitan statistical area) and is also included in the Birmingham-Hoover-Cullman, AL CSA. Hoover’s neighborhoods and planned communities are located along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

Vestavia Hills Dogwood Festival

Elmwood Cemetery (Birmingham, Alabama)

Elmwood Cemetery is a 412 acres cemetery established in 1900 (as Elm Leaf Cemetery) in Birmingham, Alabama northwest of Homewood by a group of fraternal organizations. It was renamed in 1906 and gradually eclipsed Oak Hill Cemetery as the most prominent burial place in the city. It has a chapel funeral home at 800 Dennison Avenue Southwest which was established in 1962 by the Lackey family for Johns-Ridout's Mortuary.

Seibert Hall

Seibert Hall is a 4,240-seat multi-purpose arena in Homewood, Alabama. It was built in 1961. It was home to the Samford University Bulldogs basketball team. The basketball team moved into its new home, the Pete Hanna Center during the 2007-08 season. One of the distinctive features of Seibert Hall was the wall of windows behind the basketball goal on the South window, overlooking Seibert Stadium, the football facility at Samford.

Seibert Stadium

Seibert Stadium is a 6,700-seat multi-purpose stadium in Homewood, Alabama. It is home to the Samford University Bulldogs college football team. The facility opened in 1958 and is named for F. Page Seibert, who in 1961, donated money for the completion of the stadium. The largest crowd in stadium history was in 1994 when over 11,000 showed up to see Steve McNair and Alcorn State. The four-level Bashinsky Press Tower was completed before the 1989 season.

Edgewood Lake (Alabama)
