West Point is a town in Troup County, with a small tail of the south end of town in Harris County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, this town had a total population of just 3,382 people. The very small portion of this town in Harris County is part of the Columbus, Georgia Metropolitan Area, whereas the portion of the town in Troup County is part of the LaGrange, Georgia area.

West Point Lake

West Point Lake is a man-made reservoir formed by the damming of the Chattahoochee River by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This reservoir extends for about 35 mi along the Chattahoochee River near the Alabama-Georgia state boundary. West Point Dam controls seasonal flooding and provides hydroelectric power.

Cusseta, Alabama

Cusseta is a city in Chambers County, Alabama, United States. Situated between Opelika and Lanett, it was named for the ancient Creek Indian town of Cusseta. As of the 2010 census, its population was 123. Pat Garrett, the lawman famed for killing the outlaw Billy the Kid, was born near Cusseta in 1850. The community was believed to be unincorporated until 2006, when rediscovered documents indicated that Cusseta had been incorporated as a city in 1853.

Fort Cusseta

Fort Cusseta was a wooden stockade built by white settlers to protect against possible Creek Indian attacks. Its ruin still exists today within the small city of Cusseta, Alabama. Following the signing of the Creek Treaty in 1832, the early white settlers built a 16 feet by 30 feet hand-hewn log fort for protection from a possible uprising from a Cusseta Indian village on Osanippa Creek. Walls were four and six feet high with portholes at a height of four feet.

Lake Harding

Lake Harding, also known as Bartlett's Ferry Lake, is a 5,850-acre reservoir on the Chattahoochee River. The lake is formed by Bartlett's Ferry Dam, and the lake is located in Harris County, Georgia with some portions of the lake going into Alabama. Lake Harding is a deep lake with a depth of over 100 feet at the dam itself. The lake was originally built by the Columbus Power Company in 1926 to generate hydroelectric power. The dam and lake were bought by Georgia Power in 1930.

Langdale Dam

Langdale Dam is a lowhead dam on the Chattahoochee River just south of Langdale, Alabama. The dam was built in 1908 to provide electricity for the former Langdale Mills, and is now owned and operated by Georgia Power. It produces an average of 1 megawatt of hydroelectric power. The river here lies entirely on the Georgia side of the state line, but the dam itself does enter into Alabama territory.

Crow Hop Dam

Crow Hop Dam is a lowhead dam on the Chattahoochee River. River View is a subdivision of Valley, Alabama on the Chattahoochee River. On May 20, 1980, the communities of Shawmut, Langdale, Fairfax, and River View merged to form the city of Valley. It is the location of Riverview Historic District, which is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
