Llangollen Canal
The Llangollen Canal is a navigable canal crossing the border between England and Wales. The waterway links Llangollen in Denbighshire, north Wales, with Hurleston in south Cheshire, via the town of Ellesmere, Shropshire. In 2009 an eleven-mile section of the canal from Gledrid Bridge near Rhoswiel through to the Horseshoe Falls, which includes Chirk Aqueduct and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
Glyn Valley Tramway
The Glyn Valley Tramway was a narrow gauge railway that ran through the Ceiriog Valley in north-east Wales, connecting Chirk with Glyn Ceiriog in Denbighshire (now Wrexham County Borough). The gauge of the line was 28.5in. The total length of the line was 8+⁄4 miles, 6+⁄2 miles of which were worked by passenger trains, the remainder serving a large granite quarry and several minor slate quarries.
Ceiriog Valley
The Ceiriog Valley or Dyffryn Ceiriog is the valley of the River Ceiriog in north-east Wales. It is also the name of a ward of the County Borough of Wrexham Until 1974 the valley was part of the traditional county of Denbighshire; then it became part of the short-lived county of Clwyd, which was abolished in 1996. Geographically, parts of the Ceiriog Valley extend into Shropshire, England. The Ceiriog Valley runs west to east, south of the Vale of Llangollen.
Plas Newydd (Llangollen)
Plas Newydd in the town of Llangollen, Wales, was the home of the Ladies of Llangollen, Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby, for nearly 50 years. Today, it is run as a museum by Denbighshire County Council. It appeared in the 1989 BBC adaptation of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as the home of the wizard Coriakin. It was also used in a 1987 episode of the TV series Treasure Hunt and Antiques Road Trip in 2013. It was also featured on Most Haunted
Glyntraian
Glyntraian (Welsh, more correctly Glyntraean) is a local government community, the lowest tier of local government, part of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. The parish of Glyntraian, lying at the mouth of the Ceiriog Valley, was formed when the ancient parish of Llangollen was divided into three traeanau ("traean/traian" being the Welsh for "third"): Llangollen Traean, Trefor Traean, and Glyn Traean - which became known as Glyntraian.
Tregeiriog
Tregeiriog (a Welsh name translating roughly as "settlement River Ceiriog") is a small village in Wrexham county borough, Wales. It is in the Community of Ceiriog Ucha on the B4500 road between Glyn Ceiriog and Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog. The Battle of Crogen, between Welsh forces under Owain Gwynedd and English forces under Henry II of England, took place near Tregeirog in 1165.
