Tower Colliery
Tower Colliery was the oldest continuously working deep-coal mine in the United Kingdom, and possibly the world, and the last mine of its kind to remain in the South Wales Valleys. It was located near the villages of Hirwaun and Rhigos, north of the town of Aberdare in the Cynon Valley south Wales.
Porth yr Ogof
Porth yr Ogof is a cave located near the village of Ystradfellte, near the southern boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. In 1998 the cave's passageways had been measured as over 2.25 km in length. Among the cave's fifteen entrances is the largest cave entrance in Wales (but many of those entrances are only accessible to cave divers).

Dare Valley Country Park is a public park in Wales. It lies near the village of Cwmdare and the town of Aberdare, Cynon Valley, in Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales. It comprises 500 acres of woodlands, pasture and moorland mountainside. It is maintained by the local Council, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Moel Penderyn
Moel Penderyn is a hill on the edge of Penderyn village, in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff, south Wales. It also appeared on older maps as 'Y Foel Penderyn'. Its summit at 371m is marked by a trig point.
Cadair Fawr
Cadair Fawr is a hill in the northern corner of the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff in south Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. The 485m high summit at OS grid ref SN 978123 is marked by a trig point. Cadair Fawr is the highest point of a broad ridge known as Cefn Cadlan which forms the northern edge of Cwm Cadlan, a valley which itself runs east-northeastwards from the village of Penderyn.
Penderyn (whisky)
Penderyn is an award-winning Welsh single malt whisky, the first commercially available whisky made in Wales since the 19th century. Produced by Penderyn Distillery (formerly known as the Welsh Whisky Company), Penderyn is a premium strength (46%) single malt whisky produced in several expressions. It is distilled in the village of Penderyn in the Cynon Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf from which the brand takes its name. The company was launched in 2000 as the Welsh Whisky Company.
Penderyn transmitting station
The Penderyn television relay station is sited on high ground to the east of the village of Penderyn in the Brecon Beacons. It was originally built in 1984 as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue television covering the communities of Penderyn and Hirwaun. It consists of a 12 m self-supporting lattice steel mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 310 m above sea level. The transmissions are beamed west and south to cover all these targets.
Bwllfa Colliery
Bwllfa Colliery was a coal mine, located in the Dare valley near Cwmdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. It operated from 1856 to 1957, remaining open as a ventilation shaft for Mardy Colliery until 1977.
