Powis Castle

Powis Castle is a medieval castle, fortress and grand country mansion located near the town of Welshpool, in Powys, Mid Wales. The residence of the Earl of Powis, the castle is known for its extensive, attractive formal gardens, terraces, parkland, deerpark and landscaped estate. The property is under the care of the National Trust, who operate it under the name "Powis Castle and Garden". Princess Victoria visited the castle as a child when her mother took her to tour England and Wales in 1832.

Leighton Hall is an estate and farming complex, located outside Welshpool in Powys, Wales. A grade 1 listed building and estate farming complex, located on the opposite side of the valley to Powis Castle. It is notable for being a precursor of the The Great Exhibition of 1851 in demonstrating the practical use of Victorian "industrial" farming methods; and the birthplace of the now much disparaged hybrid Cupressocyparis leylandii hedge tree.

Long Mountain transmitting station

The Long Mountain transmitting station is sited on a 400 m ridge about 4 km east of Welshpool in Powys, Mid Wales and has been broadcasting UHF terrestrial TV and VHF FM radio services since the late 1970s. The site has a self-supporting 52 m high lattice steel mast and was fed with an SHF link from Blaenplwyf via Llangurig. Despite not taking its signal off-air, it was originally classed as a 625-line UHF TV relay of Blaenplwyf.

Church of St Michael and All Angels, Forden

The Church of St Michael and All Angels is a church in Forden, Powys, Wales, located about half a mile to the west of the road from Welshpool to Montgomery. For some three hundred years the church was the burial-place of the family of Devereux, whose estate of Nantcribba is within the parish. The marble font, oval in shape, was presented in 1794 by Richard Edmunds, Esq. It was enlarged in 1830. The church and stained glass was designed by Thomas Nicholson and Edward Burne-Jones.
